General mental health, employee commitment and employee motivation during Covid 19
Abstract
Covid- 19 pandemic has caused a lot of suffering and destruction in many spheres of life especially affected professions like teachers. One of the major consequence of covid-19 in educational setting was the transition from face to face instruction to emergence remote teaching in order to maintain teaching and learning quality standards. The study therefore investigated the mental health, employee commitment and employee motivation among teachers during the covid19 pandemic. The study was conducted among teachers of private and public secondary schools in kampala district. The study used a cross sectional design, data was collected using a standard questionnaire. The study aimed at examining the relationship between general mental health, employee commitment and employee motivation among teachers during covid 19. The results of the study showed that general mental health is positively related to affective commitment and had no significant relationship with continuance commitment and normative commitment. General mental health was found to be having a positive significant relationship with a motivation, a negative significant relationship with intrinsic motivation and did not have a significant relationship with extrinsic motivation. Finally employee commitment had a positive significant relationship with employee motivation
