Effect of physical activity on job satisfaction and work performance: a case study of Secondary School Teachers
Abstract
The study intended to find out the impact of physical activity on job satisfaction
and work performance for secondary school teacher. The researcher used the cross-sectional
research designs inceit to allow her during collection of data on all the variables in the study at a
single point in time. Quantitative data was compiled, sorted, classified, and entered into the
computer analysis using the statistical package for social scientists (SPSS).
Findings indicated that majority of the respondents were male (54.1%) as
compared to women (45.9%).-most of the respondents were between 1 to 3 years’ experience in
teaching in the organisation with a percent of had 50%, Most of the teachers had attained bachelor’s
degree level of education (63.3), The study showed that physical activity was significantly related
to work performance. Also job satisfaction was significantly related to physical activity, job
satisfaction showed a positive significant relationship to work performance. Physical activity and
contextual performance were significantly related but there was no relationship between physical
activity and task performance, it was observed that physical activity affects job performance and
job satisfaction. Future research should indulge in a longitudinal study on the effect of physical
activity on job satisfaction and work performance, The government and organisations should put
in place mechanism that encourages and motivates the secondary school teachers since motivation
positively affect job performance
