The relationship between employee engagement, organizational politics and job performance among secondary school teachers in Maracha istrict

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between employee engagement, organizational politics and job performance among secondary school teachers in maracha district. A correlational study design was used to establish the relationship between employee engagement, organizational politics and job performance among teachers. The sample size consisted of 49 male and female teachers. Data was collected using self-administered questionnaire and was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient (r) was used to determine the level of significance of the hypotheses. Results showed that, there is a significant positive relationship between employee engagement and job performance (r= .521, p = .000). The results further revealed that, there is no significant relationship between organizational politics and job performance (r= -.134, p= .358). And finally, the results showed that employee engagement and Organizational politics have a significant negative relationship (r = -.640, p = .000)
