dc.description.abstract | The study aimed at finding out the relationship between sexual control and contraceptive use among adolescents in Kampala. The study adopted a quantitative study design which was correlation in nature with a population of 180. Simple random sampling technique was used to draw a sample of 123 respondents from the population. Data was collected from respondents using self-administered standard questionnaire and entered in the computer for analysis through Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) software version 23. Descriptive statistics showed that there were only females who participated in this study (100%), majority of participants were in the group of 15-18 years (61.8%). Results from percentages indicated there are high rates of sexual control (80.3%), and high rates of contraceptive use (82.0%). Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient (r) further indicated that there was no relationship between sexual control and contraceptive use, (r=.612, p=.145). Therefore, the present study provides a basis and implications for further investigation on the levels of sexual control, contraceptive use and relationship between sexual control and contraceptive use among adolescents in different districts. It was recommended that the local authorities in Kampala need to design policies that support adolescents apply sexual control and use contraceptives rightly and at the right age. | en_US |
