Physical activities, sleep quality, fatigue, and contextual performance among the employee's.
Abstract
This study aimed at exploring the relationship between physical activities, sleep quality, fatigue and contextual performance among employee's. The study adopted a correlation study design, a simple random sampling technique was used to draw a sample of 110 respondents both male and female employees. Data was collected from the respondents using self-administered questionnaire which where divided into 5 section. Section A included background information of respondent’s such as age, gender, education level. Section B included items on physical activity, which was measured using international physical activity questionnaire short. Section C had items on sleep quality, which measured using Pittsburgh sleep quality index. Section D on fatigue, which measured by fatigue severity scale, a self-report questionnaire that asses the severity and impact of fatigue on daily life. Finally, Section E on contextual performance, which measured using the individual contextual Performance. Descriptive statistics showed that majority were female 53.6%and were followed by males with 46.4% of the total population, majority were between 20-29 years, 58.2%. Results from correlation further indicated that there was no relationship between physical activities and Contextual performance, sleep quality and contextual performance where significantly related, there was no significant relationship between fatigue and contextual performance, physical activities and sleep quality are not significantly related, physical activities and fatigue are not significantly related and finally sleep quality and fatigue are not significantly related. Therefore, the research recommended that, it is essential to prioritize both regular physical activities and adequate sleep to maintain optimal performance and well-being in various aspects of life. Additionally, adopting healthy lifestyle habits and managing stress can further support this positive relationship between these factors.
