| dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between stress and workplace performance. The study adopted a quantitative study design with a population of 100 individuals and a simple random technique was used to draw a sample of 80 respondents from the population. Data was collected from respondents using self-administered standard questionnaires and the analysis of the collected data was done through Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) software version 23. Descriptive statistics showed that (49.4%) of the respondents were female and (49.4%) of the respondents were male, majority were between 20-30 years (64.2%). Results from Pearson product correlation coefficient (r) showed that there was a positive relationship between stress and work performance (r=.225, p<.05). Therefore, the study provides a basis and implications for further investigation on the relationship between stress and work performance in different settings of organizations and larger populations. It was recommended that to further increase the performance level of the employees at the hospital, their employers should manage the levels of stress in the workplace by creating a psychologically safe workplace, assessing and enhancing existing benefits, and implementing a Holistic Employee Mental Health Program. If these are observed, then the organizations will be able to meet their goals more effectively. | en_US |
