The Influence of Education level and Individual attitudes on voluntary HIV Testing among Adolescents and Young Adults (AYA)

Abstract

This research study entitled The Influence of Education Level and Individual Attitudes on Voluntary HIV Testing among Adolescents and Young Adults (AYA) will be carried out in Rubare Central Ward, Rubare subcounty, Rushenyi County, Ntungamo District, chosen because it is easily accessible to the researcher. Its objectives are as follows to examine the relationship between education level and voluntary HIV testing and to examine the relationship between individual attitudes and voluntary HIV testing. One of the significances of the study will be that it will enable young adults acquire knowledge and awareness about HIV testing thus encourages them to go for voluntary HIV testing.The study is using a cellulation cross section study design targeting a sample of 105 ,further the study deploys SAC to measure the objectives of the study .Analysis of the measurable is to be used with PPMC. The study found out that education level significantly influences voluntary HIV testing (P-value of 0.012<0.005). It also found out that adolescents and young adults are willing to participate in voluntary HIV testing especially when they to join serious relationships, when they have played sex without using condom and when they are pregnant or breast feeding. The study recommended that further studies should be undertaken on similar study while considering other areas where such study has not been caried out in order to come up with general conclusions on voluntary HIV testing.
