dc.description.abstractThis study aimed at examining the relationship between gender difference, self-esteem and career choice among students of Wampeewo Ntake Secondary School. The study objectives are;To examine whether there are gender differences in career choice among adolescents.To examine whether there are gender differences in self-esteem among adolescents.To examine whether there is significant relationship between self-esteem and career choices among adolescents. The study adopted a correlational research design with a population of 100 students from different classes.Random sampling technique was used to draw the sample of 100 respondents from the population. Data was collected from respondents using self-administered standardized questionnaires and through entering fully filled questionnaires into computer software program called Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 23, data was analyzed. Results from Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient (r) indicated that there is no significant difference gender and career choice; there was significant difference between gender and self-esteem. Accordingly, findings revealed that, there was a significant positive relationship between self-esteem and career choice. Since gender difference is not significantly related to career choice, students should develop outstanding self-esteem to guarantee good career choice. This can be achieved by employing and empowering counsellor’s to aid students build positive and objective self-esteem using; cognitive restructuring therapy and constructional analysis. Additionally, seminars and symposium should be organized to educate parents on the implications of castigating and condemning their children regarding their career choices.en_US
