In the field of industrial and organizational psychology one of the most researched areas in personality are the personality traits and many contemporary psychologists believe that there are five basic dimensions of personality. The purpose of this study was to establish the relationship between personality and how it affects career choices of Makerere university students. A correlational design was used to establish the level of relationship between the study variables which are personality and career choices. A total of 92 respondents were selected using a simple random sampling technique to participate in the study. In this study the data was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Scientist (SPSS Version 25). Findings revealed that when all personality traits are merged together show that are not significantly related to career choices (P>0.05 at r =-0.025). Some of other factors in the study found to influence career choices other than personality which involved education level of parents influences career choices since (P=.001<0.01, r = 0.509**), a negative significant relationship between gender of respondents and career choices (P=0.000<0.01, r = -.551**), talent and skills was significantly related to career choices (P=0.000<0.01, r = .316**), interest was also found to influence career choices (P=0.003<0.01, r = .412**) and economic and family background also was found to influence career choices (P=0.000<0.01, r = 0.312**). In conclusion, career choices are influenced by a myriad of factors beyond personality traits, including the environment, family background, educational performance, interests, and societal influences. Understanding these factors can help students make more informed and satisfying career decisions.en_US
