Domestic violence, depression risky sexual behavior among adolescents.

Abstract

This research was aimed at investigating the relationship between domestic violence, depression and risky sexual behaviors among adolescents .A quantitative approach was adopted in which only quantitative data collection tool were used. Data was collected from 120 adolescents using questionnaires. The data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics in terms of correlations. The study findings revealed that there was a significant relationship between domestic violence and depression among adolescents. This implies that adolescents who experience domestic violence are more likely to have depressive symptoms than adolescents who experience less violence. The study also showed that there is no relationship between depression and risky sexual behaviors among adolescents. Implies that even when adolescent are depressed they may not engage in risky sexual behaviors. Lastly the results that there is a negative relationship between domestic violence and risky sexual behaviors. Implying that much as adolescent experience domestic violence, they less engage in risky sexual behaviors
