dc.description.abstract | The study sought to investigate the relationships between Stress, Peer Pressure and Substance Abuse among Makerere University Students. The study was conducted at Makerere university where 100 students between 18-30 years date was analyzed using the statistical package and Pearson correlation Coefficient (r) was used to test the hypothesis. The results indicated that there was a significant relationship between Stress, Peer Pressure and Substance Abuse. Peer Pressure and Substance Abuse (r= 0.674) as well as substance abuse and stress (r = 0.561) and peer pressure and stress ( r = 0.597) overall, the results suggest that a increase in stress, peer pressure and substance abuse is because of parental absenteeism , lack of self esteem, lack of social support leading to death and school drop out. We then recommend the Makerere university students welfare officials to sensitize students against stress, peer pressure and substance abuse with counselling services. | en_US |
