Emotional intelligence, leadership styles and job performance among Heads of Department at Paidha Town Council Zombo District
Abstract
This study titled emotional intelligence leadership styles and job performance was conducted at paidha town council in zombo district the respondents included heads of departments, elected leaders such as the mayor and other employees at the town council.
The purpose of the study was to identify the relationship between emotional intelligence leadership styles and job performance . a sample size of 35 respondents were selected using Krejcie and Morgan (1970) table of sampling .the study also adopted a quantitative method with correlation method used to determine the relationship between the three variables as data obtained was coded with statistical package for social sciences SSP version 23 and analyzed using pearsons product correlation coefficient
The findings of the study retained the null hypothesis which states that there’s a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and leadership styles ( r=.146 ,p=.045) which means that leadership style is dependent on emotional intelligence . the study also revealed that there’s a statistically significant relationship between emotional intelligence and job performance (r=.114, p=.274) meaning that job performance is as well dependent on emotional intelligence and. lastly the study also retained hypothesis 3 which states that there’s a significant relationship between leadership style and job performance (r=.116, p=.270) which implies that leadership styles influences employees performance . further more the study discovered type 2 error in the second alternative hypothesis.
