dc.description.abstractThe study examined the relationship between peer pressure, substance abuse and social anxiety among school going adolescents. The study involved critical review of existing literature which was obtained through the internet, articles and library books. It adopted a correlational research design and quantitative approach. A sample of 100 adolescents both boys and girls aged 17- 19 years were selected. The study was conducted at Gombe secondary school in Mpigi district. Semi structured questionnaires were the main tools in data collection and data was analysed using a Statistical Package for Social sciences (SPSS v23). Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was used to determine the level of significance of the hypotheses. The study indicated that there is a positive significant relationship between peer pressure and substance abuse, there is no significant relationship between peer pressure and social anxiety and there is no significant relationship between substance abuse and social anxiety. Therefore this study should ensure that sensitization is done with the issue concerning substance abuse.en_US
