dc.description.abstractThe research explored the relationship between peer pressure, substance abuse and academic performance among school dropout adolescents in Nansana municipality. The purpose of the study was to find out the relationship between peer pressure, substance abuse and academic performance. The study had three objectives, the first was to establish the relationship between peer pressure, and academic performance among school dropout adolescents. The second was to establish the relationship between drug abuse and academic performance among school dropout adolescents. The third was to establish the relationship between peer pressure and drug abuse among school dropout adolescents in Nansana municipality. A descriptive research design was used using a quantitative approach and a random sampling technique was used to select 52 school dropout adolescents and data was collected using a self-administered questionnaire and analyzed using (SPSS) statistical package for social scientist where by Pearson r product moment correlation coefficient was used to test the hypothesis. The key findings were that that there was a significant negative relationship between peer pressure and academic performance(r= -.431, p>0.01), there was a significant negative relationship between substance abuse and academic performance (r = -.049, p> 0.01). There is a significant positive relationship between peer pressure and substance abuse (r= .475, p<0.01).en_US
