Decent work, employee engagement and job satisfaction among public servants of Rukungiri district local government
Abstract
The study aimed at examining relationships between variables of decent work, Employee
Engagement and Job satisfaction among 96 public servants of Rukungiri District Local
Government. The study sought to examine the hypotheses below; decent work is significantly
related to employee engagement; employee engagement and job satisfaction are not related and
decent work does not significantly influence job satisfaction.
The objectives of the study were to; examine whether decent work is related to employee
engagement; examine whether employee engagement and job satisfaction are related and
examine whether decent work influences job satisfaction.
The study was conducted using a cross-sectional study among respondents both male and
female using a well-designed self-administered questionnaire with questions and statements that
measure decent work, employee engagement and job satisfaction among public servants in
Rukungiri district. There was a significant relationship between decent work and job satisfaction
according to the results obtained. Recommendations and suggestions for future research were
made.
