dc.description.abstractThe Study Sought to I identify the relationship between Domestic Violence, Depression and Substance Abuse among adolescents in Namungoona Nansana, Wakiso District The research was quantitative in nature and Participants were selected using systematic random sampling technique, questionnaires were distributed to a sample of the students. The study involved a critical review of the existing literature which was obtained through internet, journals, articles, and library books. Then row data was captured from completed questionnaire sheets entered into statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) for analysis. Frequencies and percentages were used for descriptive statistics and the hypothesis were tested using the Pearson correlation Co Efficient (H1). In the study it was observed that there is a significant relationship between Domestic Violence and Depression among school going adolescents, there was is a significant relationship between Depression and Substance Abuse among school going adolescent at Namungoona and there was no significant relationship between Substance Abuse and Domestic Violence. Adolescents whose parents are in good terms not witnessing domestic violence tend to do well in school, have a high self-esteem and a lot of social support less likely to use drugs and are more likely to emotionally grow well compared to their counterparts who witness domestic violence at home. However, the connection of other factors such as personality to substance use should also be looked at other than solely concluding that domestic violence influences substance abuse and depression.en_US
