Disclosure, stigma and psychological wellbeing among HIV infected and affected orphans at Alakara orphanage in Moroto District
Abstract
The purpose of this research was to investigate the relationship between disclosure, stigma and psychological wellbeing among HIV infected and affected Orphans at Alakara Orphanage in Moroto District. The aims were to achieve the following objectives: to examine the relationship between disclosure and stigma, to establish the relationship between stigma and psychological wellbeing and lastly to examine the relationship between disclosure and psychological wellbeing. A sample of 95 Orphans was used in the study. This study adopted a cross-sectional survey design which is quantitative in nature. The respondents were chosen using a simple random sampling technique. A self -administered questionnaire was used in the data collection, data was analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Scientist (SPSS). Pearson Moment Correlation Coefficient was used to test the significance and the direction of the relationship between the study variables.
