dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this research was to examine the relationship between decent work environment, employee engagement and organisational commitment among employees of markerere university using a cross sectional survey design as the research design , using Convient sampling attained a sample size of 180 ,and collected data using self administrated questionnaires while analysised data using statical package for social sciences. Using Pearson product moment coefficient correlation(ppmcc)there was a significant positive relationship between decent work environment and employee engagement, significant positive relationship between employee engagement and organisational commitment and a significant relationship between decent work environment and organisational commitment meaning that a decent work environment influences employee engagement that leads to their willingness to stay longer in the organization. With the research findings below makerere university should keep improving on the working environment so as to keep it decent in order to influence employee engagement in order to keep the employees commited to the organizationen_US
