dc.description.abstractThis study examined the relationship between stress, self-esteem and depression among school going adolescents. The study involved acritical review of existing literature which was obtained through internet, articles and library books. It adopted a correlational research design. A sample of 100 adolescents both boys and girls aged between 13-17 years were selected by use of simple random sampling technique. Data was collected by use of self-administered questionnaire and was analyzed using the statistical package for social scientists (SPSS, version 21). Spearman Correlation Coefficient (rs) was used to test the significance of the hypotheses. Results revealed that there is a significant relationship between stress and depression, as well as self-esteem and depression among school going adolescents. Additionally, results also revealed that there is a significant relationship between stress and self-esteem among school going adolescents at Kawempe Muslim Secondary School. In conclusion, the study indicated that it is not only academic stress which leads to low self-esteem, and depression there are other factors that affect depression, stress directly leading to depression.en_US
