dc.description.abstract | The study aimed at examining the relationship among motivation, organizational
citizenship behavior and job satisfaction among employee of National Water and Sewerage
Corporation-Bunga branch. The study adopted a correlational study design with a population of
60 employees from different departments such as human resource department and engineering
department, finance and administration. Simple random sampling technique was used to draw a
sample of 52 respondents from the population. Data was collected from respondents using selfadministered
standard questionnaire and through entering it into Statistical Package for Social
Science (SPSS) Version 21, it was analyzed.
Descriptive statistics showed that 55.8% of the respondents were females and 44.2% were males,
majority were between 26-29 years (34.6%). Results from Pearson product-moment correlation
coefficient (r) further indicated that there was a significant positive relationship between
motivation and organizational citizenship behaviour (r=.441, p=.001), motivation and job
satisfaction (r=.741, p=.000), and between organizational citizenship behaviour and job
satisfaction (r=.553, p=.000).
Therefore, the findings of this study provide several insights to administrators and managers of
the several organizations in designing policies and procedures that will determine outcomes of
their staff. Hence, organizations should enhance their motivation strategies as this could lead to
positive organizational outcomes such as employees exhibiting OCB and increasing job
satisfaction. Strategies such as better pay as well as recognizing and rewarding best performing
employees may help improve on the overall employee attitude which serves to increase the
organization`s competitive advantage. | en_US |
