    Social support, substance abuse and depression among adolescents

    Abstract
    This study examined the relationship between social support, substance abuse and depression among adolescents. It adopted a correlational research design. A sample of 100 adolescents both boys and girls aged between 13-20 years were selected by use of simple random sampling technique. Data was collected by use of self-administered questionnaire and wads analyzed using the statistical package for social scientists (SPSS, VERSION 21). Pearson Correlation (r) was used to test the significance of the hypotheses. Results revealed that there is a significant relationship between social support and substance abuse, as well as substance abuse and depression among adolescents. Additionally, results also revealed that there is a significant relationship between Social support and depression among adolescent
