Social support, Self- esteem and stress among Adolescents in Mbiko village, Buikwe district.
Abstract
The study examined the relationship between social support, self- esteem and stress among adolescents. The study employed a correlational research design. Self-administered questionnaires with standardized research items were used to collect data. A sample of 100 respondents which consists of 38 males and 62 females, between the age 13 to 20 years was selected by use of simple random sampling technique. Data was analyzed using SPSS version 21. Pearson Correlation Coefficient (r) was used to test the significance of the hypotheses. Results indicated that there is a significant relationship between social support among adolescents. However, results revealed that there is no significant relationship between social support and stress, as well as self- esteem and among adolescents. Psycho-educative support, trainings should be undertaken to empower adolescents deal with all categories of stresses
