dc.description.abstractThis research was conducted at Speke Resort Hotel and Conference Centre Munyonyo, Kampala District, Uganda. The purpose of the study was to find out the relationship between shift work, employee engagement and job satisfaction at Speke Resort Hotel and Conference Centre, Munyonyo, Kampala. The study was carried out using correlational research deign and was guided by the following objectives; to assess the relationship between shift work and job satisfaction, to determine the relationship between employee engagement and job satisfaction, to examine the relationship between shift work and employee engagement, to establish the relationship between shiftwork, employee engagement and job satisfaction. The following hypothesis were put forward during the study; There is a significant relationship between shift work and employee engagement, there is a significant relationship between shiftwork and job satisfaction, there is a significant relationship between shift work, employee engagement and job satisfaction. A sample of 50 customer care officers were chosen to provide information for this study. Self-fill questionnaires with known validities were designed and distributed. The results were analyzed with statistical package for social scientists (SPSS) and tabulated. The first hypothesis was retained and the conclusion was that there was there was a no significant relationship between shift work and job satisfaction. The second hypothesis was rejected and concluded that there was no significant relationship between shift work and employee engagement. The third hypothesis was also rejected concluding that there was a significant relationship between employee engagement and job satisfaction. Based on the findings of the study, the researcher recommended that Speke Resort Hotel and Conference Centre management to adopt training programs and also develop employee assistance programs and manage more flexible rotational policiesen_US
