dc.description.abstractThe major purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between depression, stress and self-esteem in secondary schools students of Lugazi Mixed Secondary School. The specific objectives of the study were to examine the relationship between depression and stress, establish the relationship between depression and self-esteem and to examine the relationship between stress and self-esteem The study adopted quantitative and correlation research design because it is a specific type of non-experimental design used to describe the relationship between or among variables. The correlation research design was used to measure relationship between depression, stress and self-esteem in secondary schools students of Lugazi Mixed Secondary School. It also used a cross sectional study. Data was presented into statistical information using statistical package for social scientists (SPSS) and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (r) to establish whether the variables were correlated. So the study observed and concluded there is a significant relationship between depression and self-esteem, significant relationship between depression and self-esteem and a significant relationship between stress and self esteem The study recommended that there is there is a positive relationship between depression and stress. Therefore management needs to investigate the various factors that cause stress among students at school which may include environment of the school, financial challenges among students and upcoming tests among others, all of which could be attributing to students poor performance.en_US
