dc.description.abstractEmployee motivation is considered as a force that drives the employees toward attaining specific goals and objectives of the organization. Now days, it is one of the sizzling issue in organizations since every organization wants to make the best use of their financial and Human resources. The main purpose of this study is to examine what kind of factors influence employee motivation and finding up to which extent motivation impacts employee performance and turnover. A cross-sectional study was conducted and data collected from 82 employees of Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) using self-administered questionnaires based on random sampling. Three main scales were used to measure employee motivation, job performance and turnover intentions. Statistical Package for Social Scientists (SPSS) version 23.0 was used for data analysis on both descriptive and inferential statistics. The results of this study show that significant and positive relationships exit between employee motivation, job performance and turnover. This study also concluded that extrinsic rewards have a significant positive relationship with employee motivation and performance. Therefore, UETCL Human Resource department should practice different methods to keep their employees motivated to retain their skilled Human resources such as (acknowledgement and appreciation of work well-done, guidance and improvement, employee engagement, employee inspiration, job safety and mentoring) in order to maximize job performance and staff retention.en_US
