| dc.description.abstract | Anti social behavior is a significant contribution to the global burdens. This study aimed at examining the relationship between parenting styles, self esteem and anti social behavior among adolescents in Caltech Academy, Kikoni. The study employed correlational research design. A sample of 100 respondents both male and female adolescents aged between 10-17years, was selected using convenience and purposive sampling of simple random technique. Data was collected by use of self-administered questionnaires which included demographic information, Parenting Authoritative Questionniare (PAQ),Rosenberg’s self esteem questionnaire and Anti social behaviour Questionnaires (ABQ).The analysis of data was done using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS version 21. Pearson Correlation Coefficient (rs) was used to test the significance of the hypotheses. Results from the study revealed that there is a significant relationship between Parenting styles and anti social (R=-0.25, P=0.02).It also shows no significant relationship between parenting style and self esteem (r=0.08 P=0.51), as well as self esteem and anti social behavior (r=0.21, p=0.03). among adolescents in Caltech Academy. There is a need to mitigate anti social behavior in order to improve the psychological wellbeing of adolescents. These findings may help inform the Organizations and different government departments dealing with adolescents to design effective programs suitable for the well being of adolescents. | en_US |
