dc.description.abstract | The major thrust of the study was to examine the relationship between decent work
environment, Employee engagement and Turnover intentions among employees of Uganda
prisons service headquarters. The study was conducted by cross sectional/correlation research
design were data was collected using structured questionnaires. The sample size of 70 employees
was used as respondents for the study, and determined using Krejcie and Morgan (1970)
standardized table of sampling. The independent variable of the study was decent work
eenvironment measured with (31) items, the modulating variable was employee engagement
measured with (17) items and the dependent variable was turnover intentions measured by (6)
items. The data was entered to analyze whether there was a significant relationship between
decent work environment and employee engagement and determine whether decent work
environment and turnover intentions are significantly related. The findings of the study reveal
that a significant positive relationship between decent work environment and employee
engagement and a negative relationship between decent work environment and turnover
intentions. The study recommended decent work environment as it harnesses employee
performance and having a negative relationship to turnover intentions.
