dc.description.abstractThis study focused on finding the relationship between Job Satisfaction and employee engagement among lecturers at Makerere University of Uganda. The study involved 150 respondents who were selected from 5 out of the 9 colleges i.e. 30 respondents from each of the 5 colleges. This was done using random sampling technique. Data was collected using survey questionnaires which were distributed to the selected respondents. Thereafter, the questionnaires were collected and data gathered was coded. Data was then analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22. Frequency count as well as percentage were used to analyze Bio data whereas the relationship between Job Satisfaction and Employee Engagement was analyzed using Pearson correlation. The results showed that 108 (72%) of the lecturers had high levels of job satisfaction, 37 (24.6%) were moderately satisfied whereas 5 (3.33%) exhibited low job satisfaction. On the other hand, 98 (65.3%) were highly engaged, 50 (33.33%) were moderately engaged and 2 (1.33%) were lowly engaged. From the results, there was a significant relationship between Job satisfaction and Employee Engagement. Therefore, the University management needs to consider improving the working conditions at the university and perhaps consider increasing the pay and benefits earned by lecturers.en_US
