dc.description.abstractThe study was aimed at finding the relationship between Peer pressure, Self-esteem and Substance abuse among adolescents in secondary school in Kawempe division in Wakiso district. The study targeted 75 adolescents 36boys and 39girls enrolled the entire student population aged 11 to 20years and these were in classes of senior one, senior two and senior three. The objectives of the study were to examine the relationship between peer pressure and self-esteem,peer pressure and substance abuse,and self-esteem and substance abuse. The instruments used in the study included Peer group influence Assessment Questionnaire, the Rosenberg self-esteem scale1965 Alcohol, smoking and substance involvement screening (ASSIST).The Pearson correlation showed there is a significant relationship between Peer pressure and substance abuse among adolescents(r=.353**, p=0.02), there is no significant relationship between Peer pressure and Self-esteem(r=.093, p=.425) and as well there is no significant relationship between self-esteem and substance abuse (r=0.51, p=.665) among students of Makerere modern secondary school.en_US
