dc.description.abstract | This study aimed at finding out the relationship between violent domestic violence, self-esteem and substance abuse among youths in Makerere Kikoni, Kampala district. The study targeted 100 youths who were residents of Makerere Kikoni between 18-35 years both male and female. The objectives of the study were to examine the relationship domestic violence and substance use among the youths in Makerere Kikoni, to examine the relationship between domestic violence and self-esteem among the youth in Makerere Kikoni and to find out the relationship between substance use and self-esteem among youths in makerere kikoni. The questionnaires were designed to measure, substance use and self-esteem and where administered to 100 youths in Makerere Kikoni using convenient sampling technique. The hypotheses were tested using Pearson correlation coefficient. Study results showed that there is no a significant relationship between domestic violence and substance use among youths in Makerere Kikoni(r =.160>0.05, r =.141**) results also showed that there is a significant relationship between domestic violence and self-esteem among youth in Makerere Kikoni (r =.004<0.05, r =.967**) and no significant relationship between self-esteem and substance use among youth in Makerere Kikoni (r = .990 >.005, r =.001**). | en_US |
