dc.description.abstractThe study sought to investigate the relationship between job characteristics, occupational stress and employee performance among staffs of Red Cross. A quantitative study that adopted a correlational study design was carried out. Data was collected using questionnaires administered to employees. A sample of 80 respondents participated in the study and these were selected using the simple random sampling technique. Data was analyzed using the Statistical l Package for Social Scientists (SPSS) where Pearson Product Moment and Correlation coefficients was used to test the study hypotheses. The study found out that there is negative significant relationship between job characteristics and occupational stress at r = -.403**, P<0.01. The study found out that there is a negative significant relationship between occupational stress and employee performance (r = -.452**, P<0.01). Furthermore, the study found out that there is a significant positive relationship between job characteristics and employee performance among employees (r = .463**, P<0.01). This implies that organizations need to employee strategies that ensure high employee motivation to increase on the culture of organization amongst its employees. This in the long run yields passion, commitment and willingness amongst their employees to invest themselves and expand their discretionary effort to help the organizations succeed. It is therefore recommended that Human Resource management professionals in various organizations should strive and ensure that employees achieve their maximum levels of compensation and job satisfaction.en_US
