Human resource practices, occupational safety and job performance among employees of Nansana Municipal Council
Abstract
This research was conducted to examine the relationship between Human resource practices, occupational and Job Performance among Employees of Nansana Municipal Council. the study was guided by the following: to examine the relationship between Human resource practices and occupational safety among employee; To find out whether Human resource practices and job performance are significantly related.; To examine occupational safety and job performance relationship and the research was carried out during June to September.
Furthermore, correlational research design was adopted for this study. In additional, simple random sampling techniques was used to draw a sample of 70responadants from the population. Data was collected from 60 respondents using self-administered standard questionnaires and through entering fully filled questionnaires into the computer software program called statistical package for social science (SPSS) version 23, data was analyzed.
Results from Pearson product-moment correlation (r) indicated that there is no Significant relationship between human resource practices and occupational safety; there is no significant relationship between occupational safety and job performance. Similarly, no significant relationship between human resource practice and job performance.
Although there was no significant relationship found among the three study variable. it is important for the human resource practices to involve conducting performance appraisal, recruitment of quality employees in focus to job performance and also considering various occupational safety strategies like delegating of safety practices to a given body for effective accountability. Therefore, future researchers should consider using both qualitative and quantitative techniques for the purpose of clarifying why no significant relationship exists between human resource practices, occupational safety and job
