dc.description.abstractThe purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between stress, peer pressure and substance abuse among adolescents in central Uganda Kampala District. A correlational design was used and 150 adolescents participated in the study. To measure the substance abuse variable data was analyzed using the statistical package for social scientists (SPSS V20) Pearson correlation co-efficient (r) was used to determine the level of significance of the hypotheses it was meant to determine whether there was a significant relationship between stress and substance abuse among adolescents whether there was a significant relationship between peer pressure and substance abuse among adolescents, and whether there was a relationship between stress and peer pressure among adolescents hypothesis tested using Pearson rank correlation co-efficient results showed there is no significant relationship between stress and substance abuse among adolescents (r = -005, p=959). Results showed there is no significant relationship between peer pressure and substance abuse among adolescents. (r = -222, p = 027)en_US
