Self-esteem, depression and suicidal idealization among adolescents in Kampala District
Abstract
This study investigated whether there was significant relationship between suicidal ideation, self-esteem and depression among adolescents in Lubiri Secondary school. The study sample size was 150 participants selected randomly. A set of different questionnaires were administered and data was analyzed using SPSS. The results revealed that there was a negative relationship between self-esteem among students and suicidal ideation. The findings also revealed that there was evident depression among the students were positively related to suicidal ideation. Thus, this study recommends counseling services should be provided to students to enable them copy with depression to avoid suicidal ideations
