Employee Motivation, Job Performance and Productivity in Mulago National Hospital Kampala District
Abstract
For any organization to run in performing its tasks, employees are to be considered as the main part of any organization. However, to promote efficiency and effectiveness in the workplace, the managers in charge should put employee cooperation as a priority since without this it will become very difficult for the organizations to achieve their set goals and organizational objectives as a whole. The objective of the study is to determine the effect that motivation on the performance and productivity of health workers at Mulago National Referral Hospital (MNRH). The study is also meant to identify the motivational strategies put in place to motivate the workers in MNRH, to determine the effectiveness of the motivational strategies used at the hospital in relation to performance and productivity of the health workers. The motivational part to be covered during the research will be that on individual basis and not on a group basis. During the research study a sample population will be selected and the questionnaires plus some interviews will be issued to obtain the primary data. Descriptive statistical analytical methods shall be used to analyze the primary data collected. Finally the results that shall be obtained are expected to indicate or show whether the employees are positively motivated or the vice versa and whether the motivational strategies used are improving the performance and productivity of the health workers in either high rates or slow rates (high, moderate and slow) in terms of the health workers service delivery to the public an example can be the number of patients treated within a specific period and the numbers of visits made by specific patients to the hospital. In summary, the research study is based on identifying the impact/effects that motivation has on the performance and productivity of the health workers in Mulago National Referral Hospital (MNRH).
