Peer influence, stress and academic performance among adolescents in Wakiso District

The aim of the study was to examine the relationship between peer influence, stress and academic performance among adolescents. The study was conducted at Kajjansi Progressive School located in Wakiso district. A correlation study design was used and 100 school going adolescents participated in this study. Results revealed that Pearson 's Correlation Coefficient (r) was used to determine the level of significance of the hypotheses. Results indicated that there was a significant relationship between stress and academic performance. There was also a significant relationship between peer influence and academic performance. However, results revealed that there was no significant relationship between stress and peer influence among adolescents in the study. Thus, the study recommends that school administrators and school counsellors should work together to equip students with skills to enable them cope with stress.
