dc.description.abstract | The study investigated the relationship of health behavior and lecturers at Makerere University 2019-2020 using quarterly time-series data. The objective of the study was to establish factors contributing to health behavior among lectures of Makerere University, to establish strategies for minimizing health behavior among lecturers and to establish relationship between health behavior and work performance among lecturers. The study was conducted from Makerere University which is located in Kampala district Kawempe division. The study targeted 120 lecturers although from the distributed questionnaires, 90 were captured. A cross sectional study design in which the researcher observes the representative subset of the population at pone specific point in time to establish the relationship between study variables was used. Data was collected using closed ended self-administered questionnaire and then analyzed using the statistical package for social scientists
The findings of the study revealed that there are a variety of factors that are contributing to health behavior although the major ones were sexual harassment, alcoholism, smoking, absenteeism. The study findings also indicated that the respondents’ major strategies needed to help them manage health behaviors. Furthermore, the study findings revealed that there is statistically significant relationship between health behavior and lecturers. Therefore, the universities should develop policies and programs that provide institutional assistance and management support to lecturers so as to enable them mitigate the health behavior if they are to induce and realize work performance levels among lecturers | en_US |
