dc.description.abstractThe purpose of the study was to examine the relationships among ethical leadership, employee engagement and task performance in health care workers of Nakasero hospital Limited. The study adopted a cross sectional research design with a population of 240 staff from various units. Convenience sampling method was used to draw a sample of 146 respondents from the population. Data was collected using a Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ), employee engagement was assessed by a standard instrument developed by Schaufelli and Salanova (2002) and lastly, task performance was measured using a 6_item scale instrument adopted from Walsh, Ashford and Hill (1985). Data was entered inti Statistical Package for Social Scientists (SPSS) computer program version 16 and hypotheses tested using Pearson product-moment correlation Coefficient (r). results indicated that, there was a significant positive relationship between ethical leadership and employee engagement, findings revealed that there was a significant positive relationship between ethical leadership and task performance, there was a significant relationship between employee engagement and task performance. Thus, based on the results of this research, it is recommended that employee engagement and task performance be increased by encouraging leaders to use ethical leadership style. However, many leaders may need to learn the skills necessary to lead in ethical way.en_US
