dc.description.abstractThe major purpose of the study was to assess the relationship employee motivation, locus of control and job performance among employees of Umeme limited Uganda. The objectives of the study were to find the relationship between motivation and employee performance, to identify the relationship between locus of control and motivation towards employee job performance and to find out the relationship between motivation locus of control and job performance in Umeme limited. The population of the study was 60 and the sample size of the participants was 52. A correlational research design was adopted to describe the relationship between variables. Data was analyzed using a Statistical Package for Social Scientists (SPSS) and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (r) to establish whether the variables were correlated. The findings of the study showed that there is a positive relationship between motivation and locus of control since (p=0.05, r=.218). A positive significant relationship between locus of control and job performance since (p>0.05, r=- .526**), and a positive significant relationship between employee motivation and job performance since (p>0.05, r=.423**) The study recommended that the management of Umeme limited Uganda in management positions to always include locus of control tests with personality job fit tests so that more objective and suitable candidates are recruited and selected for varying openings in firms basing on their demands. Therefore, concluded that Umeme limited should device means on how to influence levels of employee motivation and examine control tests on recruitment stage if they are to yield positive levels of job performance.en_US
