dc.description.abstractThis study purposed to examine the relationship between the presence of research bureaus, student’s motivation and impact on academic performance among University Students in Makerere University. It examined the following objectives which include examining the influence of presence of research bureaus and academic performance, examining the relationship between student’s motivation and impact on academic performance among research students and examining the relationship between the presence of research bureaus and student’s motivation. A cross sectional survey design was used because it covers a wide cross section of views from respondents at a single point in time and a sample size 155 respondents was used. The researcher used questionnaires containing close-ended questions requiring predominantly interval level responses with a few nominal and ordinal response questions to collect the information needed. Since the researcher adopted a standardized instrument, an alpha coefficient of above 0.70, was achieved for all the instruments that were adopted in the study which satisfied our reliability test. Findings showed that there is a significant relationship between presence of research bureaus and academic performance since (p=.000<0.01, at r = .423**), a significant weak positive relationship between student’s motivation and academic performance (r= .368**, P =0.000<0.01) and a significant positive relationship between presence of research bureaus and students motivation (r= .410**, p= .000<0.01).It can be concluded that it is thus pertinent that within the academic setting, that an academically performing environment is created among students by creating a students motivating environment.en_US
