dc.description.abstractA correlational study entitled Self-esteem and Depression and academic performance Among the Adolescents in Kampala, it was carried out in Nsambya senior secondary school. A total of 100 adolescents were interviewed. The study objectives were a relationship between self-esteem and depression among adolescents, a relationship between self-esteem and academic performance and lastly a relationship between depression and academic performance. Though a lot of studies have found a significant relationship between self-esteem and depression. The study has revealed that there is no significant relationship between self-esteem and depression among adolescent in Nsambya Secondary School. It has been revealed further that there is a negative non-significant relationship between self-esteem and academic performance. Lastly it has been revealed through the study findings that there is a negative significant relationship between depression and Academic performance, this is because depression interferes with daily life and causes pain to the depressed and people around him, this forces the adolescent to fail to concentrate or focus while studying thus affecting their academic performance.en_US
