| dc.description.abstract | This study sought to examine the perception about mental disorders in Bulenga-Nakuwadde, Wakiso district. It was carried out in Bulenga-Nakuwadde, Wakiso district. A total of 11 respondents both male and female aged 18 years and above were selected by use of purposive sampling technique and a quantitative correlation survey design was used. Data was collected using one-on-one interviews and a guided physical questionnaire. Hypothesis was tested by Pearson Correlation co-efficiency using SPSS and the results revealed that a significant proportion of families in Bulenga-Nakuwadde have a poor perception about mental disorders. The results of the study also revealed that the level of awareness of mental disorders among Bulenga-Nakuwadde families was low especially with the old age people, those with low education level and those who do not have family history of mental illness. Additionally, the study revealed that most of the families were supportive at home to the persons with mental disorders in as much as they had a poor perception and this in turn affected the quality and kind of support rendered to those with mental disorders. Discussion of the results in relation to the literature was presented in chapter five, conclusion, recommendations, area for further research and references were clearly shown. | en_US |
