    Job stress, performance and turnover intention among the teachers in Universal Primary Education school

    Abstract
    The study sought to establish the relationship between job stress, job performance and turn over intentions among the teachers of Universal primary education employees in Kampala District. The objective of the study was to establish whether job stress and job performance are significantly related to establish whether performance and turnover intentions are significantly related among the teachers of Universal Primary Education in Kampala District. A co-relational research design was adopted. The researcher used self-administered questionnaires which consisted of closed end questions to collect information from the respondents.\ A total of 75 questionnaires were randomly distributed among the teachers, data was entered into a computerizing Statistical packages for social scientists (SPSS), Pearson correlation(r) was used to test the hypothesis between job stress and performance, performance and turnover intentions and also job stress and turnover intention. The finings of the study revealed no significant relationship between job stress and performance at r=255, p=.0.53>0.05, also revealed a negative significant relationship between performance and turnover intention at r=-225, =028<0.05 finally revealed a positive significant relationship job stress and turn over intentions at r= 424, p=000<0.01. these results imply that UPE teacher’s performance may depend on the other factors other tha job stress. However, job stress was found out be positively corelate with teachers intentions to leave the teaching profession
