Work motivation, job satisfaction and organisational commitment among staff in Makerere University

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship Work Motivation, Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment among staff in Makerere University. A quantitative study design was used, correlation was used in study to establish the relationship Work Motivation, Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment among staff in Makerere University. The study used a sample of 100 respondents who were adopted using simple sampling technique. Data was therefore collected using self-administered questionnaire and interview and later analyzed using statistical package of social scientists (SPSS). The study results revealed that there was a significant relationship between Motivation and Organizational satisfaction, a significant relationship between Organizational Commitment and satisfaction as well as a significant relationship between Motivation and commitment. Employees who work harder and perform well and meet their targets should be motivated by their respective organizations (makerere university) by giving them a special treatment in terms of incentives like bonus etc. to further increase in their levels of job commitment and to induce others to follow their footsteps.
